Most businesses are aware that Occupational Safety and Health Regulations and the Building Code of Australia require the development of evacuation procedures, plans, installation of fire equipment and fire equipment maintenance. However in many instances they forget to provide the necessary fire equipment training which may create the situation where fire equipment is not used at all or worse, result in burns or other injury to employees.
Further, research has found that approximately 25% of Australian companies that suffer a serious fire go out of business as a consequence of fire and smoke damage.
